For sunny hours - observing the sun easily and safely
The sun is our central star, from which we live. That alone should be reason enough to observe it even more closely. The new Omegon solar filters lets you do that easily and above all safely and are specially tailored to your telescope.
The advantages in a nutshell
- attaches directly - filter in anodized aluminium mounting
- AstroSolar filter foil already incorporated
- filter factor 100,000X
- attach without scratching - 3 aluminium screws with plastic tips
- suitable for 138mm-153mm diameters (e.g. a 127mm Maksutov)
Filter film in an aluminium holder
Are you looking for a solar filter that doesn’t require any fiddly assembly? One that you can simply clip on and start with an observation straight away? Then Omegon solar filters are the perfect choice for you. They come fully assembled in an anodised aluminium mount. For you, this means: simply clip it on and our Sun is suddenly within reach.
Top-quality: Reliable film
Your new solar filter is fitted with a film that has been tried and tested over many years: particular emphasis is placed on maximum safety here. With a filter factor of 100,000, only 0.001 per cent of sunlight reaches the telescope.
This ensures safe observation at all times.
Who is this solar filter suitable for, and what is it used for?
This filter is ideal if you enjoy observing sunspots and solar flares, or if you want to take a look at the Sun’s surface and its granulation. It’s also perfect for observation of a solar eclipse – it’s a marvellous sight to see the Moon gradually move in front of the Sun.
It’s all very simple and works with almost any telescope, as these solar filters are available in various diameters. Just attach it and start observation – it really couldn’t be any easier.
This product allows you to perform safe observation of the sun. Here’s how:
- Partial solar eclipse: The moon has not yet completely covered the sun. During this time, you must keep the Filter or protective cover fitted!
- Total solar eclipse:* Once the last of the sunlight has disappeared from the edge of the Moon (“diamond ring”), the filter may be removed. The total phase is brief: just a few minutes. Enjoy it, but remain vigilant: when the “diamond ring” reappears behind the Moon, put the filter back on the telescope or binoculars!
- The same applies to solar observation glasses (special protective glasses for solar observation): during the partial phase, only look at the Sun through these glasses; during the total phase, remove the solar observation glasses.
* Many solar eclipses are only partial. In that case, the protection naturally remains on your telescope or your nose the whole time.
Our expert comment:
Some of the filters may have slightly wavy areas. This is normal due to the manufacturing process of the filter film used and does not affect optical performance. Therefore, this alone is not grounds for a complaint.
