You can balance the weight of your telescope tube by using a counterweight. If you connect a lot of accessories to your telescope, you may find that the mounting bar is too short to properly balance the telescope in the declination or ascension axis. Also, it is easier to shift a counterweight than the complete tube together with its accessories.
