Om egon Foilens – your foilfilter for your lens
The Foilens series helps you photograph the sun safely. Imagine the next solar eclipse is coming up. You’ve just got a new camera with a good lens. But a telescopic solar filter is too bulky for you and you don’t want to fiddle around with foil and cardboard holders yourself? Then treat your lens to this filter. You screw it onto the front, just like any other filter. Pop it in your camera bag!
Advantages at a glance
- Safe film: Neutral density 5.0, which lets through only 0.001% of sunlight
- Screws onto the front of the camera lens – secure fit and light-tight
- Various filter thread sizes to fit many objectives
- Film that displays a natural white image of the sun (except for the M48 and M56 variants)
Standard filter size
Nothing is blocked or obscured; you can access your objective’s zoom and focus rings just as easily as before. The colour rendering is neutral white – just as the sun really looks (except for sizes M48 and M56).
The range of sizes is extensive. If the diameter for your objective is still missing, please email us at [email protected]
Neutral colour reproduction
The newly developed film reflects the colour of the sun as it is: naturally white. But you retain your artistic freedom. If you prefer yellow-orange or another colour, you can add colour to the image during editing.
This product allows you to perform safe observation of the sun. Here’s how:
- Partial solar eclipse: The moon has not yet completely covered the sun. During this time, you must keep the Filter or protective cover fitted!
- Total solar eclipse:* Once the last of the sunlight has disappeared from the edge of the Moon (“diamond ring”), the filter may be removed. The total phase is brief: just a few minutes. Enjoy it, but remain vigilant: when the “diamond ring” reappears behind the Moon, put the filter back on the telescope or binoculars!
- The same applies to solar observation glasses (special protective glasses for solar observation): during the partial phase, only look at the Sun through these glasses; during the total phase, remove the solar observation glasses.
* Many solar eclipses are only partial. In that case, the protection naturally remains on your telescope or your nose the whole time.
