Product description

Wirelessly control your GoTo telescope - with Mac, PC, iPhone or iPad

The SkyFi W-LAN telescope adapter heralds a new generation of telescope control. A small box that can: Navigate your telescope wirelessly using your IPhone or your computer. Simply connect, select telescope and you're off.

Select the object you wish to observe- your telescope provides it for you.

A small box for serial ports and USB telescopes

This involves a W-Lan to serial and USB adapters, specially designed for controlling telescopes via W-LAN. If you have a computer-controlled GoTo telescope, the SkyFi helps you to use the capacity of your Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch and to control the telescope using these. In contrast to Bluetooth, SkyFi requires no adaption or special drivers. It employs the standard TCP/IP network protocol. TCP/IP is the language which is used for Internet connections.

Small, lightweight and long life

The SkyFi is very compact (slightly larger than an iPhone), and very straightforward to attach to the telescope mount or tripod. A strip of double-sided Velcro is included in delivery for this. Four AA batteries are inserted into the SkyFi, which will then provide an operating time, depending on usage and environment, of about 8 to 12 hours. The SkyFi can also be powered by an external source (such as power tanks, car batteries, or a mains adapter).

Autonomous: Your own network

Once in operation, SkyFi creates its own Wi-Fi network. This is an open network named 'SkyFi'. You can rename this at any time and also encrypt it. Connect your iPhone, laptop or PC to the network and obtain the IP address via DHCP. Apart from this, no further settings are required.

Travel with Voyager to the stars

We recommend using 'Voyager' software for PCs, MACs and 'SkyVoyager' software for iPhones, iPod Touch and iPad, which can be simply downloaded from the iTunes store.

Telescope compatibility

SkyFi can be connected to any telescope with a standard RS-232 or USB interface.

Following models with RS232 interface have been successfully tested and can be used unconditionally with SkyFi:

Our expert comment:

How to connect to the SkyFi with Windows 8 and 10.
The new Windows 8 and 10 make the connection to Ad Hoc networks kind of hard. Here is a short explanation how to do it manually.

Go to the Search Web and in Windows Network and sharing center. Open and choose Setting up a new network connection

1.Choose connect manually with a network

2.Type in your network data. Default data is Network: SkyFi Security: None

3.disable the check box for start this connection automatically

4.Now you need to change the connection type to an ad-hoc-network: open command prompt and type netsh wlan set profileparameter name=SkyFi ConnectionType=IBSS

5.In command prompt you can see all networks with netsh wlan show networks there should be the SkyFi Network you can join

6.To connect to the Ad Hoc network just type netsh wlan connect name=SkyFi

7.Open a Browser tab with Chrome, Firefox or Safari, and write http://10.0.0.1. A window will open that allows you to configure your SkyFi.

8. To disconnect later just type netsh wlan disconnect

your current connection will be disconnected.
