Great choice for wide field observation ...and beginner-astrophotographers

This refractor is light but of good build, sturdy and solid quality, the optics are more-than-clear and the first observations exceeded expectations. The focusing knobs allow hair-fine focusing. On a good mount and solid tripod you have a great instrument to start taking a swim in the stars...tried it with the Omegon 2" 38mm that provided me with that pleasure (even with a bright moon present) The refractor comes in a very handy carry case, great for when you go somewhere
tried out to mount SLR and camera during day time, all fitted well and provided promising results, I mainly appreciated the fact that everything was well balanced and in-place without shakes or trembling of any sort (of course quality mount and tripod are mandatory as well)
The choice for this particular apochromatic refractor came after several conversations I had with the Astroshop team who identified my exact needs and provided me precious information's & recommendations. Service is very personalised, response by e-mail are fast and telephone calls are returned when you leave a message.
First wanted to buy binoculars with filters...the conversation took a very different angle BUT an excellent one I must say and I'm happy with the final choice. Just took the 82/530 over the 80/500...aperture and focal length slightly higher
