Product description

More about the series Pro...

Take your astronomy observation to the next level. The UHC filter is a great tool for observing objects in the night sky. The sky background appears darker, and faint objects can be seen more clearly. This makes the UHC filter an excellent tool, especially under a dark sky.

The highlights at a glance:

  • Omegon Pro UHC filter M56: deep sky observing has never been this good! This tool enhances the contrast of nebula objects and makes them more distinct
  • The filter blocks the effect of mercury and sodium vapour lamps, so you can see more details in the night sky
  • Suitable, e.g. for 54mm star field binoculars: this UHC filter can be used with 54mm star field binoculars, it's easily attached using the thread

Whether you are an experienced astronomer or just starting out, the Omegon Pro UHC filter is a must-have for anyone who wants to get even more out of their star field binoculars.

Note: we recommend two M56 filters for star field binoculars

Finally a clear night to test Omegon UHC M56 filters with Omegon 2x54 binoculars. And what a waste of money have they been. Stars got fuzzier and dimmer. I had difficulties to see some bright stars like Castor from Gemini constellation. After a while I removed the filter from another lense and it got clear and sharp. After that I tried to refocus the filtered lense, but the view didn’t get any better. At some point my mind played some tricks and I thougt did I see some more colors in some stars, but I really can’t tell, because of the fuzzy view. And that wasn’t all. The filters caused some bad reflections to lenses from a street light. So no help against lights, but the opposite.

I will give the filters maybe one more chance to show some value when there is Orion Nebula over the horizon, but my expectations are very low at the moment.

I did try to ask from Astroshop personel, if the Omegon UHC filters have any use, if there are led lamps around, but it took three days to get an answer: A day after they had shipped the order, so not possible to make changes to the order anymore. But it wasn’t only the lamps fault for these filters to fail so badly.

This case exluded, I have had good experiences from Astroshop.eu. Even this time, the shipment of the whole order was faster than expected.
